Preventing Sexual Abuse in Schools

Sexual abuse can include unwanted touching, harassment, coercion, or exploitation. It can happen in person or online.
Preventative Measures:
✅ Know your right to safety and respect.
✅ Trust your instincts—if someone makes you uncomfortable, speak up.
✅ Learn the school’s reporting process for sexual abuse.
✅ Report immediately to a trusted teacher, parent, or the police.
Key Message:
“No one has the right to violate your boundaries.”
Knowing the signs and how to report keeps everyone safer.
Safe Spaces Matter
"Hi, I’m Ayanda, and I go school in East London. During break, a new learner whispered that someone at school was touching her in ways that made her uncomfortable. I remembered our RCL session about telling a trusted adult and not keeping secrets about abuse.
I walked with them to the school counselor, who took the report seriously and helped them stay safe. I learned that noticing warning signs and speaking up can protect friends from sexual abuse."
